Boris Balent

Boris Balent is the co-founder and president of Croatian Association of Sport Psychologists (HASP) and currently he works as a sport psychologist at the FC Dinamo Zagreb senior team. At Department of Psychology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences he gains mag. psych. degree. He received his PhD at Faculty of Kinesiology, University of Zagreb, working on his thesis called Mindset in sport environment. He has a certification exam in the field of Sport psychology. Additionally, he is pursuing an education in Behavioural-Cognitive Therapy. Boris was working for more than seven years at the FC Dinamo Zagreb academy and senior team, and three years in FC Hajduk Split building up systems of mental preparation. Also, he was coordinator of psychological preparation at the Croatian Football Federation and an assistant professor at several faculties in Croatia and Slovenia lecturing Sport Psychology and Communication Skills: Faculty of Kinesiology, Centre for Croatian Studies, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, and University of Primorska. He is also an external associate of the University of Coventry in the UK. He was a professional collaborator at Croatian Olympic Committee, working on projects in domain of sport psychology. As such, he was the member of the Medical team London 2012, and member of the International Relations Commission at the Croatian Olympic Committee. He is the author of two sport psychology handbooks “Introduction to Sport Psychology: Handbook for coaches” and “Psychological knowledge and tools in sport practice”. While his main occupation is mental preparation of top-level athletes and teams, he has gained a lot of practical experience in the field of Human Resources as a HR specialist for top and middle management. He is the first sport psychologist from Croatia to be invited to join the FAST group (Forum of sport psychologists working in practice) at FEPSAC (European Federation of Sport Psychologists).
